As you place dimensions, the software shows a temporary, dynamic display of the dimension you are placing. This temporary display shows what the new dimension will look like if you click at the current pointer position. The dimension orientation changes depending on where you move the pointer.

For example, when you click Distance Between on the Dimension toolbar and select an origin element and an element to measure to, the dimension dynamically adjusts its orientation depending on where you position your pointer.

In this lesson, you will use the Dimension toolbar to modify linear and angular dimensions.

Click the Show Me Show Me  button on the SmartSketch Learning Center toolbar to view a demonstration of the tasks in this lesson.

  1. On the Dimension toolbar, click the Distance Between Distance Between Button button.
  2. Click the left exterior border of the parking lot, and then click the left interior border of the parking lot.
  3. Click again to place the dimension.
  4. On the Draw toolbar, click the Select Tool  Select Tool.
  5. Click the dimension to select it.
  6. On the Dimension ribbon bar, type 12.000 m in the Dimension Value box and press Enter.

The dimension has been modified.

  1. On the Dimension toolbar, click the Angle Between Angle Between Button button.
  2. Click the top green line, and then click the blue vertical line.
  3. Click between the lines to place the angle dimension.
  4. On the Dimension toolbar, click the SmartDimension SmartDimension Button button.
  5. Click the top green line, and then click below it to place the dimension.
  6. On the Draw toolbar, click the Select Tool Select Tool.
  7. Select the length dimension on the top green line.
  8. On the Dimension ribbon bar, type 15 meters in the Dimension Value box and press Enter.

The dimension has been modified.
