A connector will connect to native graphic objects such as lines and circles as well as complex objects like symbols and groups. The command uses intelligent routing to maintain connections between objects and symbols.

In this lesson, you will place the Peripheral Cable.sym symbol onto your drawing sheet. You'll then insert a vertex and connect the cable to a keypoint on the printer symbol.

Click the Show Me Show Me  button on the SmartSketch Learning Center toolbar to view a demonstration of the tasks in this lesson.

  1. On the Main toolbar, click the Zoom Area command.
  2. Click in the upper right-hand corner of the printer and drag down to the lower left-hand corner of the printer to zoom in on that symbol.
  3. In the Symbol Explorer, open the Cables folder and locate the Peripheral Cable.sym symbol.
  4. Drag the symbol onto the drawing sheet and drop it just to the left of the printer.
  5. With the cable still selected, move the pointer to the top connector end point and drag the connector up until it's one grid box above the printer.
  6. Next, drag the connector end point to the right 5 grid spaces.
  7. Release the button to place a vertex.
  8. With your mouse pointer still over the connector end point, click and drag the connector down to connect to a key point on the printer symbol.
