Place a Vertical Group Symbol

In this lesson, you will expand your organization chart to include two Vertical Group symbols. Then you'll use the Connector command to connect the two symbols to the Horizontal Group symbols.

Click the Show Me   button on the SmartSketch Learning Center toolbar to view a demonstration of how to perform the tasks in this lesson.  

1. Expand the Vertical Groups folder and locate the Right Staff.sym symbol.
2. Click and drag the Right Staff .sym symbol onto the drawing sheet, and place it one grid space left of center and three grid spaces beneath the Certification Lead box.  
3. Double-click inside the staff box and type Jan Morgan.
4. Click and drag another Right Staff.sym symbol onto the drawing sheet, placing this one two grid spaces below the first Right Staff.sym.
5. Double-click inside the second staff box and type Troy Striker.
6. On the Draw toolbar, click the Connector tool.
7. Move the cursor over the bottom of the Certification Lead symbol. When the lower left connect point highlights, click the left mouse button to place the first connect point.
8. Move the cursor over the left side of the Right Staff symbol, and click the left mouse button to complete the connector.
9. Use the same procedure to connect the second Right Staff symbol to the first one.

Tip

• To enlarge the display of the chart, click the Zoom Area button on the Main toolbar and drag a "fence" around the organization chart.
