In this lesson, you will expand your organization chart to include Horizontal Group symbols. Then you'll use the Connector command to connect the symbols. You can attach connectors to symbols using either keypoints or predefined connect points. Symbol connect points appear as red circles with Xs; keypoints appear as gray circles with Xs.

Click the Show Me Show Me  button on the SmartSketch Learning Center toolbar to view a demonstration of how to perform the tasks in this lesson.  

  1. Expand the Horizontal Groups folder and locate the Group4.sym symbol.
  2. Drag the Group4 symbol onto the drawing sheet and place it in the center, three grid spaces beneath the Manager symbol.
  3. Double-click inside the top box of the Group 4 symbol. Add the information for this position: Product Manager  followed by Jason Shoemaker.
  4. Populate the lower three boxes with the following information: 
  5. On the Draw toolbar, click the Connector connector.GIF (169 bytes) tool.
  6. Move the cursor over the bottom of the Manager symbol. When the center connect point bullseye.gif (66 bytes) highlights, click the left mouse button to place the first connect point.
  7. Move the cursor over the top of the Group 4 symbol. When the center connect point highlights, click the left mouse button to complete the connector.
