A connector will connect to native graphic objects such as lines and circles as well as complex objects like symbols and groups. The command uses intelligent routing to maintain connections between objects and symbols.

In this lesson, you will expand your organization chart to include another symbol. Then you'll use the Connector command to connect the two symbols.

Click the Show Me Show Me  button on the SmartSketch Learning Center toolbar to view a demonstration of how to perform the tasks in this lesson.  

  1. In the Symbol Explorer, locate the Manager.sym symbol.
  2. Click and drag the Manager.sym symbol onto the drawing sheet and place it centered,  two grid spaces below the Executive symbol.
  3. Double-click inside the Manager.sym symbol.

Notice that a flashing cursor appears inside the symbol.

  1. At the flashing cursor, type Director of Development and press the Enter key twice.
  2. Type Doris Mullins.
  3. On the Draw toolbar, click the Connector connector.GIF (169 bytes) tool.
  4. Move the cursor over the bottom of the Executive symbol. When the center connect point highlights, click the left mouse button to place the first connect point bullseye.gif (66 bytes).

Tip

  1. Move the cursor over the top of the Manager symbol. When the center connect point highlights, click the left mouse button to complete the connector.
