Use the Line/Arc Continuous Command
The Line/Arc Continuous button on the Draw toolbar allows you
to draw one line or a series of connected lines. You can place a line by
clicking a start and end point to define the line's length, or by specifying a
length prior to drawing the line.
In this lesson, you will use the Line/Arc
Continuous command to draw a simple geometric shape.
Click the Show Me
button on the SmartSketch Learning Center toolbar to view a demonstration of
how to perform the tasks in this lesson.
- On the Draw toolbar, click the Line/Arc Continuous
button.
- In the bottom center of your document, click to
place the first point of the line.
- On the Line ribbon bar, enter 2' in the Length
box and press the Enter key.
Note
- A unique ribbon bar appears when you select the command or when you select
an element. The ribbon bar helps you control various settings for the active
command.
Tip
- The ribbon bar can be toggled on and off by right clicking inside the gray
area around the toolbar and selecting the Ribbon menu item.
- Move the mouse cursor horizontally to the left of the first point.
- When the horizontal relationship indicator
appears next to the mouse cursor, click to place the line.
Note
-
Relationship indicators are displayed by a tool called SmartSketch. A
relationship indicator shows where the mouse cursor is in relationship to elements in the
document. For example, when you see the horizontal relationship indicator next to the
mouse cursor, this means that the line you are drawing is horizontal to another element in
the document. Sometimes you can see two relationship indicators next to the mouse cursor
at once.
- Draw a vertical line 2' long.
- Draw two more lines the same length as the first two lines to complete the box.
